Things to do before calling tech support.

1. Check that the power is on.

2. Check that all cables are connected. (Turn off power first.)

3. Restart the computer.

4. Try to find a cause and effect source for the problem such as recently installed software or new external devices.

5. Make sure disks and hands are clean.

6. Check that modems, printers, mice, and keyboards are properly installed.

7. Are any viruses present? (Install and run a virus protection or anti-virus program.)

8. Read the documentation including any read me files on the disk.

9. Check online help.

10. Write down error messages exactly as they appear on the screen.
