Family and Consumer Science Programs
Family and Consumer Science programing consist of the Family and Community Education Clubs of Polk County, Tennessee Nutrition Consumer Education Program, and other nutrition and family programing.
Family and Community
Education
clubs, (FCE) is organized under the direction of the University of
Tennessee
Agricultural Extension Service. FCE is dedicated to the purpose
of
helping persons become better homemakers. Home Economics
activities
are carried out through monthly meeting, mass media and individual
contacts.
All club activities and events are open to every person regardless of
race,
color, national origin, sex or disability. The focus of
Home
Economics has been developed around five areas of national concern:
Family,
Environment, Global, Special Projects, and Young Homemakers.
Area Clubs:
Bethlehem: Meets on the 3rd Wednesday at 1:00 P.M.
Red Hills: Meets on the 4th Friday at 1:00 P.M.

TNCEP is a USDA/UT Agricultural Extension Service Program offering education in nutrition, health, family life and resource management to food stamp recipients and other low-income families statewide. The Polk County TNCEP coalition meets monthly to discuss strategies in providing nutrition and life skill training to the families of Polk County.
